Dr Andrew Batty

Dr Batty graduated from Monash University in 1979 and has been at East Bentleigh since 1984, after completing general practice and obstetric training. After delivering in the order of 2000 babies, he now provides shared pre-labour pregnancy care with Southern Health and Sandringham Hospitals. Dr Batty’s other medical interests include paediatrics and aged care. Dr Batty is a board member of Bentleigh Bayside Community Health. Dr Batty is married with 3 adult children. Outside work, his main interests include walking, cycling and old BMWs.

Dr Peter Schattner

Dr Schattner graduated from Melbourne University in 1974 and then obtained his Master of Medicine at Monash University in 1986 and a doctorate in 2001. His medical interests include the broad range of general practice, medical teaching and research (part-time associate professor in the Monash University Department of General Practice.) Dr Schattner is married with 3 adult children and enjoys time with his family, classical music and opera, reading history and walking.

Dr Steve Lapin

Dr Lapin graduated from Melbourne University in 1980, and has been at East Bentleigh since 1986. His areas of special interest in medicine are family medicine and paediatrics. Dr Lapin is married with 2 children. He enjoys travel, reading, golf and is a keen surfer.

Dr Barry Hill

Dr Hill graduated from Monash University in 1994 and obtained the RACGP Fellowship in 1998. He has practiced medicine in England and is currently an examiner for the RACGP. He is married with one child and is an opera fan.

Dr Ron Schweitzer

Ronald Schweitzer has been a local GP since 1984.  Since 2009 he has been thrilled to be associated with the East Bentleigh Medical Group.

His major area of interest in medicine apart form general practice is in the area of low carbohydrate healthy fat (LCHF) eating.  He first heard about the LCHF approach in 2011 and spent some years researching this before adopting it both personally and professionally in 2018.   He now uses the LCHF approach in the management of a number of conditions including but not limited to diabetes and pre-diabetes, weight loss, fatty liver, high blood pressure and abnormal lipid readings.  He is very excited with the results achieved with this approach.   If you wish to see Ron about this please book a double appointment.

Ron is married with two children and four grandchildren and whatever spare time he has he fills with playing tennis.

Dr Daniel Beebe

Dr Daniel Beebe graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1965 and gained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1974. He has been in general practice for over 40 years and has extensive experience in all aspects of general practice. He has travelled widely having worked in several countries overseas. He is married with children and grandchildren with whom he loves to spend time. His outside interests include regular sessions at the gym and classical music.

Dr Rosie Walker

Dr Walker graduated from Melbourne University in 1976. She has a special interest in geriatric and paediatric medicine along with all aspects of women’s health. Dr Walker is married with four adult children and one grandchild. Dr Walker’s interests outside of work include golf and bridge.

Dr Anne Appelbe

Dr Appelbe graduated from Monash University in 1984. While enjoying the breadth of general practice she particularly enjoys women’s health and preventative medicine. Dr Appelbe has a family planning certificate and experience in breast-feeding management. Married with 3 children, Dr Appelbe enjoys gardening, cooking and taking her Japanese Spitz, ‘Mintie’ for walks.

Dr Anton Graduated from Monash University in 1990. He has been in General Practice since 2000 and is experienced in all aspects of general medicine.

Dr Kylie Telfer

Kylie completed degrees in Arts and Science (Honours) at Monash University before changing career path and undertaking Medicine at Flinders University in Adelaide. She graduated in 2000 and was drawn to the diversity of General Practice. She joined East Bentleigh Medical Group in 2005. She enjoys all aspects of Family Medicine, especially women’s health, children’s health and mental health issues. Outside the clinic, Kylie enjoys spending time with her family and indulging in chocolate.

Dr Melody Kotzman

Dr Melody Kotzman graduated from Monash University in 1987 and has been practicing in the East Bentleigh area in general practice for over 20 years. She has a special interest in women’s health having worked at the Jean Hailes clinic for women. Her other main interest is mental health and she has undertaken further studies in both these areas. She is married with 3 children in their late teens and early 20’s.

Dr Tara Reddy

Tara completed her medical degree in general practice training in Adelaide, before moving back to her hometown, Melbourne. Outside of work Tara loves travelling and exploring the outdoors with hiking.

Dr Vanessa Huang

Dr Vanessa Huang MBBS, FRACGP, DRAZCOG, Dip of Derm, Dip of Dermoscopy, Dip Skin Cancer Med/Surg (SCCA)

Vanessa enjoys all aspects of General Practice and has a special interest in skin cancer, dermatology, women’s health & aged care. She is an accredited skin cancer doctor of Skin Cancer College Australasia and is an accredited share care doctor. Outside of medicine, Vanessa enjoys spending time with family, travelling around the world and going to the gym.

Dr Ingrid Lipka

Dr Ingrid Lipka Graduated from Melbourne University in 2008 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2015. Her interests in general practice include Mental Health, Paediatrics, Women’s Health, Travel Medicine, Dermatology and Aged Care.

She lives with her husband, 2 children and an energetic Cocker Spaniel x Beagle who accompanies them to their farm in the Otways where they breed Angus Beef cattle.
